May I remember- verses about joy, salvation, and surrender

This post is thanks to my friend Joy’s blog, blogofjoy.com. Check her out!

Note: As you already know if you’ve read my previous posts, I call my Father by His name, Yahuwah, and my Saviour by Yahusha. The below blog is unaltered, as Joy wrote it.

Enjoy!

May I remember…

Salvation

that God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16)

that He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2)

that for our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Surrender

that I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me (Galations 2:20)

to deny myself and take up my cross daily and follow Him (Mark 8:34)

that Jesus being found in human form, humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross (Philippians 2:8)

that whoever does not take his cross and follow Jesus is not worthy of Him (Matthew 10:38)

to only boast in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world (Galations 6:14)

Power

that the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but for those who are being saved it is the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:18)

Joy

to look to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2)

Freedom

that He canceled the record of debt that stood against me with its legal demands. This He set aside, nailing it to the cross (Colossians 2:14)

that there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit (Romans 8:1)

that the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23)

Redemption

that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”— (Galations 3:13)

Healing

that He was wounded for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5)

that He himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed (1 Peter 2:24)

Sanctification

to know Him and the power of his resurrection, and share His sufferings, becoming like Him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead (Philippians 3:10-11)

that our old self was crucified with Him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin (Romans 6:6)

Peace

that He Himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in His flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that He might create in Himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility (Ephesians 2:14-16)

that the Father reconciled to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross (Colossians 1:20)

Love

that God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8)

that by this we know love, that He laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers (1 John 3:16)

Have Faith

Faith is a journey that stretches you, challenges you, and most importantly, gives you hope. Without faith in Yhwh, there is no better life that lies beyond this one. Life is just a cosmic accident, ruled by unguided processes or chance. Where is the meaning in that? The feeling at the bottom of the bottle is worse than before. The drug must be stronger to ease the emptiness. Surely, we can find individual some superficial meaning, but eventually, most people get to the end of that rope quickly.

What do you find at the end of that rope? If not Yhwh, then you will try to hold on to the rope in a futile attempt to keep yourself from falling. Yet, your hands will tire and you must release your grip on it. When that happens, to what do you descend upon? If not Yhwh, then the place where you land can be a tenuous one that tosses you about from the winds of change that life ultimately brings. But when you place your faith in God, you fall onto a firm foundation, one built on the knowledge of Yhwh and the experience of His love for you. That is the best place to land in this journey called life.

I slightly altered this from some good thoughts out of the blog https://thinkdivinely.com/loving-the-unseen-god/

The life of the believer

should be based in both

the knowledge of Yah’s provable existence

& knowing

His love.

Shalom for now,

On being real (folks)

Being real is one of those things that is so simple, it’s hard for us to comprehend at first. It’s also a challenge to us; to our lifestyle and how we think. So we may try to avoid the thought.

I’ve met a few out-going real people. Some characteristics stand out. They accept you, but are willing to let you know if their stance is different. They respect you and themselves. One big thing is that being truly real can be the act of trying to tell, believe and be truthful. And to be yourself.

Real people are willing to point out your gross inconsistencies -including spiritually- in a simple and kind way. Also, although it may make you feel uncomfortable, if the time is right, you yearn for their prescence. Real people don’t fault-find. They are down-to-earth. They build you up by showing your shortcomings (Perhaps accidentally, even by just being themselves), and show you a better way.

Another thing about real people is that they are them; everywhere. If they are a Messianic Jew, for example, and are also a “real” person, they will share their beliefs. When out shopping, on Facebook, etc. Their values follow them everywhere. But yet they realize that some things they believe could be wrong. They aren’t proud.

Whether you agree or disagree with them, they stand by their beliefs. And they respect yours. They may even consider yours; they want to improve themselves and believe the truth. But they do not change their story due to who they are with; not simply due to someones else’s out-look on life.

I have a hunch that it’s not easy to become a real person, but that once you are one, it is beautiful, freeing, and empowering.

cropped-nofear.jpgreal

Our Saviour Yahusha is a good example of a real person. He cared for everyone, and payed attention to where they were at. But He also “Cut to the heart”. He didn’t beat around the bush (unless to further His point), and He also talked heart-to-heart. If He saw problems and inconsistencies, He addressed them. In a wise manner; appropriately. But even if it was uncomfortable for those around Him.

No matter what company He found Himself in, He was Himself.

I know Paul says he was a Jew to the Jews etc (1Co 9:20,“And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;”) Ok, great. But he (Paul) didn’t throw out everything he believed to suite them, did he?

Yahusha the Messiah treated everyone the same (although with His ministry on earth He focused on the Israelites.). Whether Rich, Poor, Publican or Sanhedrin. (Although I actually think He enjoyed the company of Publicans more that the Sanhedrin – they were “Real People” compared the Rabbis.)

To all, He (lovingly) pointed out errors. That, I believe, is part of being a true friend! It may sound harsh, but it is -through the truth- bettering their lives. (Don’t get me wrong- there is a time and a place.)

My son, despise not the chastening of [Yhwh]; neither be weary of his correction: For whom [Yhwh] loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

You don’t need to be in someone’s company very long to pick up on whether or not they are real. And you don’t have to agree with them to appreciate them.

I do not feel I am real. Well, at least not like I want to be. Like Yahusha is/was. Or like many folks out there are.

Real is transparent

However, I enjoy the prescence of real people. Sometimes I crave it. Partly because it’s simply enjoyable, and partly because you largely become like those you hang out with.

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

Interestingly, Revelation talks about some people obeying the beast in their hand OR head. The head part means you agree and follow, while hand simply means you follow. So the beast doesn’t care if you’re real, it just wants you to “act the part”.

Also, as I said, real people “Cut to the heart”. And so I appreciate it when real people ask me questions about myself I hardly dare think about otherwise. They actually don’t even have to ask you per se. Sometimes simply the way they talk and act helps you realize things!

Looking to our Saviour and to our Father more (& more) waters our own attitudes, thoughts, and way of life so as we become real, more and more.

Now, that’s what I want. It’s uncomfortatble, at least at times; Sure. It also takes time. Just like every good thing seems to.

And just like every good thing, it’s worth it.

Will you join me in becoming real, more & more?

P.S. I do hope that I am more of a real person than I realize. But no matter how “real” I am, I know I have room to grow.

Shalom & Yesh Tikvah,

-Yah’s girl

“A Pinch Of Some Much Needed Inspiration

Another fellow blogger iscriblr asked yesterday if I wanted to have some more quote FUN and here it is…also stroll by her site and say “HI”!

I don’t know about others but the most exciting phrase to me is when someone underestimate my determination to succeed in every goal I set for myself. One of my greatest role models said it best.

“Nothing can dim the light that shines within.” Maya Angelou

This speaks directly to my soul which informs me that the light around me will never compare to the light inside of me and just because the odds seem to be against me, no person that is walking on this EARTH has the power to dim my light inside.

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” Abraham Lincoln

I believe in his quote because if you want a promising future for yourself how else are you going to do so? If you want to be happy you have to discover or return to what was able to cause you to be happy! Everything starts with you knocking the first domino over to begin the chain reaction. Nothing will take off properly without you FIRST igniting the flame to start.
