Halloween. All hallow’s eve. All saints day. Same day, same story. Sort of.
When we think of Halloween, we think candy, friends & fun. Or the other side- pranks, ghost stories, & creepy costumes.
Yup. Creepy costumes. But I thought the Bible said “Love casts out all fear.”!? Well, we don’t need to be afraid. So also, why would we try to scare others? I don’t keep this holi-day. Instead, I keep Yahuah’s Holy-days.
Holi-days V. Holy-days. There is a difference.
I can’t honestly give you a history of this holiday. Although I have heard that Jack-o-lanterns were once lit to scare demons away! Creepy, huh? Anyways, if we simply look at what is done on this (Or any) holiday, it should give us a hint. (Yes, you could do something silly during a Holyday. But that would not be the nature of the Holyday. It would be your (dumb) decision.)
A friend of mine, on this night, drove over a log in a garbage bag and harmed her car. If I recollect right, it was totalled. My family is keeping our black cats contained for their safety. (Black cats are just as good as any.) On what other day are we o.k. with toilet paper in our yard?!
Food for thought.
Another interesting thing is that october 31,2017 is the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther publishing his 95 theses. More on that here later.
