Shalom, Yah’s girl
I’m subscribed to an email list that sends out a different thought/writing every Shabbat/Sabbath & wanted to share this one with y’all. The Author’s website is http://www.keepit7.wordpress.com
Yahuwah gives miracles. He performs them for our joy and benefit! And he does this every day. Sometimes in our great rush and fury, we miss it. We overlook a “small” miracle. This is tragic. Often when we need Yah most, we shove Him aside- “Not now, God, can’t talk. I have problems. I don’t have time!” (What?!?!?!?!?)
I know I do it.
He is here to solve our problems, or bring us through them, but He has given us freedom of choice, which means we have to accept His help. Elohim watches over His own. All we have to do is trust Him!
Remember, Shalom is not the superficial peace the world promotes, but a deep inner peace and harmony “in the battle”.
“He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many against me.”
My point is this: Yah will work in our lives, whatever is going on in them, good or bad. He has done many miracles in my own life, Including a huge one this week. Actually every day is a miracle, since he gives us life; we could not breathe without Him.
So praise Him! Praise the name of Yah! He will glory, He will conquer the evil one! His Truth will never be undefended, and His people will never be alone.

Yah loves you & so do I!
I posted this last year, but wanted to edit it. Here’s the re-newed post.
Why do you keep christmas? How do you keep it? Where did your traditions come from?
I personally have not kept x-mas for a few years now. I know that’s odd, so don’t worry- I’m gonna explain. But how did this come about, me not keeping it? We never were quite “normal” – My family had always made each other gifts, besides the store-bought presents. And we always read Luke chapter 2 before we ripped into the gifts. Then things slowly began to change.
First we said we’d try an ALL-homemade xmas. Then we decided we’d just celebrate it a month or so later, because we could buy the on-sale items – and celebrate cheaper.
After a while, we said, “Forget it! This is silly!!”. He didn’t even get born this day, did he? Yes, I can hear you now. Whoa!! Slow down! What are you talking about? The children love x-mas! We couldn’t take that away from them! And- and what about the true meaning? The greatest gift ever?!
If you had told me what I’m saying right now a few years ago, I may have thought you were crazy. I’m just sayin’, I know a little where you are coming from.
“Whoa!! Slow down! What are you talking about?” O.k. I’ll slow down, at least as long as that includes answering your other questions. Thanks for asking. And if you have more, just air them out in the comments!
“The children love x-mas! We couldn’t take that away from them!” Yup, x-mas is FUN!! But let me clarify…what do you mean? Quit lying to them about santa claus? Quit letting them be selfish? I’m all for it.
Plus, perhaps we could exchange christmas with a Biblical celebration like the Israelites kept? Like Passover, or Tabernacles. (For starters, seeExodus 12, Leviticus 23 and Zechariah 14:16)
“What about the true meaning?” Great question! The birth of the Messiah is truly very important. It must be remembered! Very important. But, as much as we strive to go back to the “roots” of christmas, we have a very hard time – always coming back to the lights, presents, and so on. Family is important, but so is the shopping. Hmmm. This makes one wonder, whether the Saviour’s birth is really where this holiday came from. Do we actually put up a tree to remember his birth? Are all the elves in the front yard the true symbol of the wise-men? Do we ask for presents because of that one, ultimate gift? I’ll be giving y’all some links on this subject!
I want to give y’all some more Bible verses, and then I will give you a few links as to the origins of this holiday.
First of all, and mainly, I should quote from Jeremiah 10, verses 1-12, where it appears erecting trees in our houses connotates a very bad thing to Yahuwah. (Unfamiliar with that name? Yahuwah is “God”. Click the links below for more info!) The most important is the bold part, if your in a time crunch.
“Yahuah, I have mocked you. This holiday still sounds fun, but I will not observe it; I will keep your pure Holy days, rather than the world’s holidays. Help me to learn from your Feasts. Also, please Help me, Yhwh to learn & grow & be truly sorry for this, one among many things I have done wrong!! Through your grace. HalleluYah!!”

that for our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21)
that I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me (Galations 2:20)

that our old self was crucified with Him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin (Romans 6:6)
that He Himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in His flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that He might create in Himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility (Ephesians 2:14-16)
that the Father reconciled to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross (Colossians 1:20)
that God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8)

Who am I? Well, I’m Yah’s girl, of course. But what am I like?
A Bible- believer, fun-loving lady. Someone who needs to work on patience. Who loves her family and pets. I love writing, if you have not noticed. (I have something like 7 blog posts as drafts right now. Yes, I do procrastinate. ) I get scared of what people think, and pray for Yah’s joy and peace and love. I want to learn more about the anchors of my faith, and am interested in apologetics.
I’m someone who loves people, and hates the violence seen today. I am sad for the inner-city kids. I am someone who needs to pray a lot more, and worry less. I try to “be good”, but I am sooo human. I love singing, art, making bracelets with friends, and drawing. As you might tell from reading my blog, I want to spread joy & truth, and help others. I’m not a main-stream christian (And don’t call myself a christian), but am more on the Messianic-side.
There’s a peek into my life.
Below are a few fun pictures that show a little more about me.
My darling 3-yr old, Cara.
Fannie Fae, a darling kitten who died due to a rabies vaccine overdose. See my post Why would ANYONE be ‘Vaccine-hesitant’?
I love baking 🙂
Kitten we rescued (Still needs a furrever home!! Contact me if you are interested. 😉 )
My son, Fido the cat
Our chicken house (It’s made out of palets. Oh yes! 😀 )
Love you all! -Yah’s girl
Sometimes I get really frustrated; kinda weighed down. About the world’s problems. I ask myself “What can I do?“.
I think about my goal of being a missionary. About wanting to help homeless people. About wanting to tell my fellow Americans about the wonderful love of Yahuwah. I think about the children and all people harmed by domestic abuse/violence. I think about the people who have lived through extreme wars, like in Bosnia. I think about people who have been harmed by their government. About misinformed people. I think about the Native Americans, the way they were treated and all the information about their culture they’ve lost. About mistreated animals. I think about all the American Veterans and all the teenagers who commit suicide every day.
That’s a lot to think about. Too much. Like I said, I get overwhelmed.
But these problems are real. How do I deal with them; how do I help?
First of all, I need to remember that Yahuwah (God) is in charge. So I can leave it in His hands. Just give it to Him. He made everyhting.
Secondly, I need to think about my circle of influence. I can worry all I want about problems in Zimbabwe, but (not being rich and being the kind that wants to see who I am helping) I may not be able to do a lot of good. That is, I am not going to Zimbabwe, and I don’t want to send money blindly. So what can I do? Let’s talk about what my circle of influence means- Basically, “Who around me do I have the most influence on?” My influence should start very close, in my family and co Here is an example – If I want organic food growers to thrive, I may not be able to lobby for them in Congress, or anything ‘big’. (Out of my circle of influence.) But I can try to buy & eat organic foods (preferably from my own neighbors), which funds these growers. (Within my circle of influence.) So, that all basically to say… Maybe I should go to comfort my neightbor who is a domestic abuse survivor, rather than travelling an hour to volunteer for an organization. Now, volunteer organizations are great. I myself volunteer at them. But how much better to work with people or animals super close to home? (I have to travel 1/2 an hour or an hour to volunteer at an organization). It’s a lot less overwhelming when you concentrate on the problems near you. And you may actually be able to do more good, too.
We can’t just think about helping! I can sit here all afternoon yearning for things to change. But how can I expect them to if I never lift a finger? Can I then blame everybody else?!
We may not be able to do things we think of as “big things”. But our Saviour Yahusha did “Little things” – he held children on His knees, He sat among normal people telling stories. Maybe we are called to little things. (Which can really be pretty big). Maybe we are called to do big things (But need to do little things for practice first?) What I’m saying is; if all you can do is a little thing, do it. That’s way better than waiting for the big thing to come by and call your name.
Ideas: Maybe you want to lift people’s spirits. Give the cashier a compliment. Sing a Patriotic song at a restaraunt. Pick up stray animals. Give the homeless guy a sandwhich. Visit your neighbors- the ones you’re used to avoiding.
Be the change you wanna see.
A thank you to every American Veteran and all volunteers!
Atonement for everyone
All have sinned and come short of the glory of Yahuwah. But all can be atoned for, because He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
By grace we are saved. Not through our own power, but His. We are not saved throgh works, lest any man would boast. Yet, faith without works is dead. By their fruits you will know them. We can be a new creature, and can be set free in His truth.
We ought to come before Yah every day, to search for what seperates us. We should also strive daily to be on good terms with our fellow men, as our Saviour did. Luke 2:52 And [Yahusha] increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with [Yah] and man.
Some Bible believers also keep the day of atonement. Even if you don’t believe in keeping the Feasts, we can all learn from them!
Tomorrow, I’m going to observe this Day of Atonement. Unlike a normal day, it is from sundown to sundown, spanning two calendar dates, the 9th and 10th of the Scriptural 7th month.
Before I move on to what we can all learn from this day, let me give you two links to posts I wrote awhile back that give some of my reasons for keeping the Feasts. There is much more information – pro and con – out there. Is it o.k. to feast with the Father? (Updated) & On the Fringe of the Law
Yom ha’ Kippurim – The day of Atoenment
Although it’s classified as a Feast, it’s generally accepted that, due to the somber importance of the day, you don’t eat or drink anything during the whole 24 +/- hour period. (Why? See Leviticus 16:29, 23:27+32, and Numbers 29:7) Your hunger and thirst reminds you of the day’s mission.
Because of the day’s job and dire possibilities (Leviticus 23:29,30), the preceding ten days of the month are labeled “The days of awe”. In fact, the first of the month (Right before the beginning of The Days of Awe) is the Feast of Trumpets – a day of blowing, warning everyone Atonement is coming. (On the Feast of Trumpets: Leviticus 23:23-25)
The Day of Atonement is a foreshadow of the final judgement day. All will be atoned for, or face the punishment of their un-repented of and thus un-cleansed sins. Our Saviour Yahusha will come to take His children home. Those who refused His love will die. (Free will) 1 Peter 4:5, Revelation 6:10 + 19:11
In more modern terms, it’s a little like the night before january first – when many people make “New Year Resolutions”. You think back over the last year and make goals of being a better person. (Note we have Yah’s help so we CAN change in the coming year).
Some of my goals are “Be a better listener”, “Help out so-and-so more”, “Pray more”, and even “Spend more time with my dog”.
On this day, I contemplate my relationships. With Yahuwah, and other people, and think of what problems and inconsistencies I have. It is a day for prayer. Contemplation. And maybe writing some letters or ringing a friend (or non-friend) to apologize.
2:) Notes on the idea of the day:
Summing it up, the idea of atonement, and the nature of the Day of Atonement, is really a day to admit and say that;
1:) I acknowledge I mess up.
2:) I have/will apologize to those I’ve harmed or hurt, whether by speaking to them, writing them, or by whatever the best means are.
3:) (This is huge) Yah is perfect and forgiving.
4:) I will strive, through Yahuwah’s power, to change and be more like Him this coming year.
5:) I will Praise Yah in hard times and good, and will do so even in the presence of unbelievers.
Whoever you are, wherever you are- Become better friends with your family, friends, neighbors, pets, and most importantly- Yahuwah.
This may seem awfully simple.
But maybe that’s because it is.
Beautiful as it is, Atonement is not even the end! We have a fantastic and loving Father. Once we are right with HIm, we celebrate! For Feast-keepers, this means a week-long HalleluYah party! See Leviticus 23:33-44 and Deuteronomy 16:13-17. Also see my post Tabernacles! Dancing! HalleluYah! and my re-blog Make A Booth, Y’all!. To see where I attend Tabernacles, see 2centsoapbox -Gatherings!
To read about the specific sacrifices of these day, feel free to look at the context of the verses I have supplied or look up any of this in an online Bible. (I.E. atonement or tabernacles, etc.)
Shalom, y’all. Talk to you later. 🙂
Have a good week.
Faith is a journey that stretches you, challenges you, and most importantly, gives you hope. Without faith in Yhwh, there is no better life that lies beyond this one. Life is just a cosmic accident, ruled by unguided processes or chance. Where is the meaning in that? The feeling at the bottom of the bottle is worse than before. The drug must be stronger to ease the emptiness. Surely, we can find individual some superficial meaning, but eventually, most people get to the end of that rope quickly.
What do you find at the end of that rope? If not Yhwh, then you will try to hold on to the rope in a futile attempt to keep yourself from falling. Yet, your hands will tire and you must release your grip on it. When that happens, to what do you descend upon? If not Yhwh, then the place where you land can be a tenuous one that tosses you about from the winds of change that life ultimately brings. But when you place your faith in God, you fall onto a firm foundation, one built on the knowledge of Yhwh and the experience of His love for you. That is the best place to land in this journey called life.
